Peter J Ahearn
Peter Ahearn has over 31 years, progressively responsible experience in: investigative and intelligence operations, management, strategic planning and coordination, resource and budget allocation oversight.
He is an accomplished law enforcement, intelligence professional having served in several Senior Executive Management positions in the FBI, DEA and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
Throughout his 29 years with the FBI and two years with the Director of National Intelligence, Ahearn received numerous awards and commendations. After achieving the rank of FBI Special Agent in Charge, he was assigned to direct all operations and administration for the Western New York office. This included managing and directing all FBI investigative and national security operations for Western New York, to include management of $1 million budget, human resources oversight, and facilities management and information security.
He directed the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and four other cross-functional teams with an additional 65 federal, state and local law enforcement investigators and analysts working FBI investigative programs. Under his direction; during his tenure his division received multiple Directors’ Awards, Attorney General Awards, and the Service to America Award for its work in the “Lackawanna Six” international terrorism case and James Charles Kopp anti-abortion terrorist and Teamster Local 91 RICO prosecution in Niagara Falls.
As a Senior Advisor to the ODNI, Ahearn was responsible for oversight of the sixteen members of the Intelligence Community (IC). Ahearn was responsible for providing policy, planning, and consulting and management oversight within the ODNI’s Collection Branch. He oversaw the implementation of the FBI’s National Security Branch (NSB) and worked closely with CIA’s National Clandestine Service and the Defense Department’s Defense HUMINT group. He coordinated several projects with the ODNI IG to ensure law enforcement and national security integration and was responsible for IC HUMINT policy, budget and training development.
